"CM Yogi Hails Deendayal Upadhyay as Visionary Behind Antyodaya, Pledges to Fulfill His Vision of Uplifting the Marginalized"
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking at the unveiling of a statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay in Barabanki, hailed him as the visionary behind the concept of Antyodaya—the idea of uplifting the most marginalized in society. In his address on the eve of Upadhyay’s birth anniversary, the CM emphasized the enduring relevance of Upadhyay's social and economic philosophy, which continues to shape the policies of modern India, particularly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Yogi elaborated on the Antyodaya philosophy, explaining that Upadhyay believed true progress could not be measured by the achievements of the wealthy or the powerful, but by the well-being of the poor and downtrodden. The slogan “Har haath ko kaam, har khet ko paani” (work for every hand, water for every field), coined by Upadhyay, captured his vision of inclusive growth where every individual, regardless of their status, would have access to employment and resources.
Tracing Upadhyay’s journey, Yogi Adityanath noted how he rose to prominence in Indian politics in the years following Independence. Initially a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Upadhyay later co-founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of today’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His ideas laid the foundation for many of the policies that focus on the upliftment of rural India, farmers, women, and the underprivileged. The CM remarked that many of these principles continue to inspire governance today, shaping not just the BJP's agenda, but also influencing other political parties in India.
During the ceremony, Yogi Adityanath also inaugurated an exhibition that highlighted Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s life and his immense contributions to the nation’s social and economic framework. The exhibition showcased various milestones in Upadhyay’s career and his influence on India’s political landscape.
Yogi pointed out that the Antyodaya mission, which forms the backbone of many modern welfare schemes, is being fulfilled through government initiatives. He praised the current administration for ensuring that crucial schemes reach every section of society without bias or discrimination. "Whether it's farmers, women, or the poor in remote villages, no one is left behind," the CM noted.
The chief minister further explained how Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s vision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model. Under PM Modi’s leadership, significant strides have been made in ensuring social justice and equitable distribution of resources. He cited examples such as the free ration distribution to 80 crore citizens, the construction of 12 crore toilets, and the health coverage provided under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. According to the CM, all these initiatives reflect the spirit of Antyodaya—empowering the lowest strata of society.
Yogi Adityanath also emphasized Barabanki’s growing importance, now being a part of the State Capital Region. The district, which lies on the periphery of Lucknow, is poised to benefit from the same development opportunities as the state capital. Improved infrastructure, modern public transportation, and economic progress will soon elevate Barabanki, allowing it to share in Lucknow's growth.
Reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s dreams, CM Yogi concluded by stating that the journey of development envisioned by leaders like Upadhyay is continuing with renewed vigor under the leadership of PM Modi. The CM called upon all sections of society to participate in this movement of progress, making the dream of Antyodaya a reality for generations to come.
